What to expect at your ordering session

At the end of your portrait session, a time would have been organized for your ordering session. Below is a brief outline of what to expect and some helpful tips to make it an enjoyable experience.

• In the week or so between having your portraits made and the ordering session, take some time to look around your house at possible places to hang your new family portraits.

• This ordering session is when all purchasing decisions will be made, so please ensure that all parties needed to make purchasing decisions are able to attend the ordering session, as additional sessions do incur a $75 fee.

• A great way to ensure a successful session is by sending us (or bring on the day) jpg images of different areas of your house in which you are thinking of hanging photos. We import these into our software and can then project your portraits exactly as they will look on YOUR wall, at any size. We will also need to know the length of one object in each different photo to set the scale correctly. You can email these photos to info@blissstudio.com.au. Please include your name, the date of your ordering session and the length of one object in each different photo.

Are You Sick of “Winning”

What an eye opener. We attended the Everywoman Expo this past weekend. (June 26-28) We had a great three days chatting to people that came by our two booths, and though my feet are happy that it is over, it was great to be able to show our photography to the people of Perth and hear what they had to say about it . Thanks to everyone for the lovely comments on our images. It feels great when you pour so much in to creating an image and then hear a complete stranger come up and comment on how beautiful they think it is.

But sadly, there was one thing that we heard time and again in various incarnations. We would hear this usually when people entered our competitions and it went something like this “…yes but what is it going to cost me” or “sure everybody wins, a free session and then you have to mortgage the house to buy one small print” One lady stopped her daugther from entering at all, and I heard in hushed tones as she walked away, “you don’t win anything, it’s just a scam”

People don’t trust Perth photography company competitions. This has become a sad reality in our industry, thanks to the business practices of some of our well known competitors. This is really unfortunate, because we are not all like this.

Those who entered either of Bliss Studio’s competitions are actually in the draw to win a prize. An honest to goodness real prize that won’t cost them a cent. Really. That is how we have always operated and that is how we will always operate. It is great fun when you call up the winner to let them know.

In additon to creating goodwill by giving away a valuable prize, another important part of having a competition from a business perspective is gaining leads to new prospective customers, and certainly we will be contacting those people that chose to receive further communications from us when they entered. But NO, not every single entrant is going to “win” or be “chosen” to receive a consolation prize of a “free” sitting. As we all know, you don’t win anything other than the chance to spend money. What we will do though is call these people and offer them the chance for an extra savings as a thank you for taking the time to enter our competition.

You see, we reckon that if you bothered to stop by and fill in a entry form, then you might actually be interested in a having a family portrait or intimate shoot and if you are, then a genuine offer of savings might also interest you. If this is the case, then such an offering will help you to choose our business over a competitor, and that is where we benefit. Then because you have had an enjoyable experience with us you will tell your friends and we get further business.

For photography companies in Perth, it all boils down to this: Treat people fairly, offer genuine incentives and everybody wins.

And after all this rambling, I have not even touched on print prices. I might save that for another post.

Everywoman expo perth

Day three of the Perth everywoman expo already. Bliss studio has been exhibiting in two locations this weekend, one for our family potraits and another booth for our glamour photography product line called Bliss Intimates.

Here are a couple photos of our booths.. Thanks to all who stopped by this weekend to chat, it was great to catch up with many previous clients as well.

So you’ve had your portraits taken, now what?

Ok, so you have made the portrait session, you have come and had the portraits taken…Now What? Well the next step in the process is to come in a place your order. We do this at your ordering session which is normally scheduled at the conclusion of your sitting. We live in Busy times, so to help out, we even send out a reminder letter prior and will confirm your Ordering Session a few days beforehand.

When you arrive for your Ordering Session our friendly staff (ahem, ususally me will offer you Tea or Coffee and then we will move to the theatre room to present your images as a slideshow on our big screen.

After this, we will go through the images a few at a time, allowing you to pick out your favorites. We will also have several sample composite ideas to show you. You can select these or make changes to suit your favorite images.

To ensure a smooth session, we suggest the following:

1) In the week or so, following your portrait session, have look around your house to see where your new portraits might look good.

2) Ensure that everyone who needs to be involved in the purchasing decision, is present at the Ordering Session. If you need to rebook the time to ensure that you both can come, then please let us know. Additional Ordering Sessions do attract a $75 fee.

3) In order to ensure a relaxing time, and because ordering sessions are not the most interesting thing in the world for young children, we suggest that you have them baby sat if possible, but we understand it is not always possible and have a playroom with all sorts of activities to entertain young children.

4) Relax, sit back and enjoy, and let us guide you to ensure you get the most from your portraits
